Friday, May 9: Perfection in Christ
Day 5: Perfection in Christ
Friday, May 9, 2025
Reading: Matthew 5:48, Romans 3:21-26
Jesus concludes this section with a seemingly impossible command: "Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." This standard of perfection serves two purposes. First, it gives us an ideal to strive for, showing us what citizens of God's kingdom should look like. Second, it reveals our utter inability to achieve this standard on our own, driving us to rely completely on Christ's righteousness. The good news of the gospel is that in Christ, we are counted as righteous before God. His perfection becomes ours. Today, reflect on the magnificent truth that in Christ, you stand perfect before God. Let this fuel your gratitude and your desire to live out the reality of your new identity in Him.
