Reading: Matthew 7:1-5
Jesus warns us against adopting a judgmental attitude towards others. It's easy to fall into this trap, especially when we're working hard on our own spiritual growth. We might look down on those who seem less committed or enlightened. But Jesus reminds us that we all have our own "logs" to deal with before we can help others with their "specks."
Today, reflect on areas where you might be harboring a critical spirit. Ask God to reveal any hidden pride or self-righteousness in your heart. Remember that we are all sinners saved by grace. Pray for humility and the ability to approach others with love and gentleness, rather than judgment.
When you're tempted to criticize someone today, pause and first examine your own heart. How can you extend the same grace to others that God has shown you?
