Tuesday, July 1: God's Presence in Suffering

Day 2: God's Presence in Suffering
Tuesday, July 1, 2025

Reading: Psalm 44:9-16, Romans 8:35-39

The stark contrast between Psalm 44:1-8 and 44:9-16 mirrors the reality of our Christian walk. We experience seasons of blessing and seasons that feel like abandonment. The Psalmist's lament resonates with anyone who has felt defeated or humiliated, wondering where God is in their pain.

Yet, as we turn to Romans 8, we're assured that nothing can separate us from God's love - not even the most intense suffering. Christ Himself experienced the ultimate suffering and apparent abandonment on the cross, yet it was through this that God's greatest victory was achieved.

Reflect on a time when you felt God was distant in your suffering. How did He reveal His presence to you eventually? If you're in a season of pain now, how can you lean into the promise that God is with you and working for your good, even when you can't see or feel it?
