Day 2: Glory Returns and Joy Arrives

Reading: Luke 2:8-20; Psalm 16:11

Devotional: For 400 years, Israel had lived without the visible glory of God. Then, on an ordinary hillside, glory burst forth to humble shepherds. The angel's message was clear: "I bring you good news of great joy." Notice the connection—where God's glory appears, joy follows. The Psalmist knew this truth: "In your presence there is fullness of joy." We chase joy in relationships, careers, possessions, and experiences, yet return empty. These aren't evil pursuits, but they become idols when we expect them to deliver what only God can give. Joy isn't found in what we accumulate but in whom we worship. The shepherds didn't receive gifts that night—they received an invitation into God's presence. That's where lasting joy begins and never ends.
