Day 3: The Lord of the Sabbath
Reading: Hebrews 4:1-11
Devotional: The Sabbath was always meant to point beyond itself to ultimate rest in God. Physical rest one day per week pictured the eternal rest available to God's people—ceasing from our own works and trusting completely in His. Jesus declares Himself "Lord of the Sabbath" because He is the fulfillment of what Sabbath represented. In Christ, we stop laboring to earn God's acceptance and rest in His finished work. This isn't laziness but faith. Whoever enters God's rest ceases from their works as God did from His. Have you entered this rest, or are you still exhausting yourself trying to be righteous enough? The invitation stands: come to Jesus and find rest for your weary soul. Stop striving. Start trusting.
