Tuesday, January 13 | The Danger of Self-Righteousness

Day 2: The Danger of Self-Righteousness

Reading: Matthew 12:24; Luke 18:9-14

Devotional: The Pharisees saw undeniable miracles yet attributed them to Satan. How could religious leaders be so blind? Self-righteousness had become their god. When we believe we're spiritually sufficient, we close ourselves off from recognizing our need for Jesus. The tax collector who beat his breast crying "God, have mercy" went home justified, not the self-assured Pharisee. Examine your heart today: Do you approach God with humble dependence or confident self-reliance? Have you become so comfortable in your religious routine that you've stopped truly needing Jesus? Pride blinds us to truth. Only through honest self-assessment and repentance can we see clearly. Ask God to reveal any areas of spiritual pride blocking your vision.
