Day 2: The Danger of an Empty House

Reading: Matthew 12:43-45; Ephesians 2:1-10

Devotional: Jesus warned of a swept and ordered house left vacant—religion without relationship, morality without the Master. We can clean up our lives through willpower and discipline, creating an appearance of righteousness while our hearts remain empty of Christ. This is the peril of self-improvement divorced from gospel transformation. Moral reformation without Spirit regeneration leaves us vulnerable to even greater spiritual darkness. Christianity is not about trying harder but about surrendering completely. It's not self-help but divine rescue. The question isn't whether your house is clean but whether Christ dwells within it. Have you invited Jesus to be the permanent resident of your heart, or are you merely maintaining appearances?
