Day 3: The Deceptiveness of Riches

Reading: Matthew 6:19-24; 1 Timothy 6:6-10

Devotional: Jesus warns that riches are deceitful—not necessarily evil, but deceptive. They promise security, significance, and satisfaction, yet slowly choke out kingdom priorities. The thorny-ground hearer doesn't reject Jesus; they simply allow good things to crowd out the best thing. Your calendar and bank account reveal what you truly treasure. Are you organizing your life around kingdom priorities or around comfort and security? The cares of this world feel responsible and necessary, but they subtly redirect your heart's worship. Examine your life today: what "good things" are choking out your intimacy with Christ? What needs pruning so kingdom fruit can flourish?
