Pastor Michael Johnson
Christ saved me around 10 years old. I was born into a household where neither parent was a Christian, so coming to Christ was a process that God graciously worked out over several years through various influences, all pointing me to Jesus as the savior of the world. Since then, both parents became believers, and my family has been a great encouragement to me.
I felt God calling me to preach as a teenager, and I surrendered to that path at 18. From there, I attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to earn an MDiv degree in Pastoral Ministry. At 23, I married the only girl I had ever dated, and she has been a constant source of grace in my life. We have four children: Jude, Eden, Asa, and Zion.
I first served was Central Baptist Church in Dunn, NC. This is the same church where I came to Christ and grew in my faith for over 15 years. During my time on staff, I interned and served on a team as lead planter to launch a multi-site location. From there, my wife and I moved to Florida and worked and trained in church planting. God called us back to NC to serve and plant. For the last 6 years, I have served as a pastor here in the Helena Valley. This has given me great experience with the cultural context and a heart for the vast lostness of the Northwest and I have fallen in love with the culture and beauty here.
I have felt a burden for the people of Montana and am committed to seeing the Gospel reach many here in Helena. Starting King’s Cross is out of a response to my calling and “for the sake of the name.” I am excited to teach and train believers to live out the great commission.
