Music at King's Cross

Beholding God’s Glory. Responding in Worship.

Worship That Lifts Hearts to the Greatness of God

At King’s Cross Church, our desire is simple. We want every person to walk away from our worship gathering with a more profound awe of who God is. And as we go, we want that awe to overflow into telling others about Him throughout Helena and beyond.

Music is one of the ways we proclaim the gospel together. Each week, our goal is to plan services that make God known through authentic, celebratory, Spirit-filled worship. Every song is chosen to lift our hearts to Christ, prepare us to hear His Word, and help us respond to His truth in faith and obedience.

Simplicity with Purpose

While we continue to build the foundation of King’s Cross Church, we’ve intentionally stripped away everything but the essentials. We have no lights, screens, or sound system, just new hymnals, voices lifted together, and the Word of God at the center.

We sing from the Sing! Hymnal, which contains some of the very best hymns of Christian worship, both timeless classics and newer songs that are rich in truth and beauty. These hymns help us express the gospel in words that align with Scripture and stir the soul.

We encourage every family to use a hymnal at home for family worship, so that the songs we sing on Sunday continue to shape hearts throughout the week. Our hope is that these hymns become a treasure in our church and in our homes, stirring affection for Christ and grounding our worship in His Word.

Gospel-Centered and Word-Driven

At King’s Cross, our music is not separate from the preaching, it’s part of the same message. Each week, songs are chosen to reflect and reinforce the Scripture passage being taught. We aim for every song to carry theological depth that magnifies the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Led with Integrity and Joy

Our music ministry is led by Carson Harken, who serves alongside Pastor Michael in planning each service. Together, they study the weekly text, pray through the theme, and select songs that faithfully express the truths being taught.

Their goal is to lead the congregation into genuine, Word-centered worship,  music that fills the mind with truths about God and stirs the heart to love and obedience of Him.

Get to know Carson.

Carson was raised in a family devoted to the teachings of Christ, where his faith was nurtured at home, in the local church, and further strengthened through his education at The Oaks: A Classical Christian Academy. At the age of 7, he surrendered his life to Christ, beginning to awaken to a profound awareness of his own sin. Growing up, Carson developed a deep passion for music, especially as a means of ministry. At 16 he began serving in various roles in the local church as a part of the team leading worship. Carson attended Carroll College, earning a degree a B.S. in Civil Engineering, which he currently applies through his work as an engineering designer at a local civil engineering firm in Helena. He enjoys spending his free time with the love of his life- Brenna, and their two young daughters. Carson recognizes a significant need for thoughtful worship song curation within the American church. He is dedicated to crafting and leading worship that glorifies God and conveys the Gospel through sound theology and doxology for the sake of glorifying the name of our God.

The Heart of Our Worship

At King’s Cross, worship through music isn’t about performance , it’s about participation. It’s the gathered people of God responding to the gospel together. Whether through a familiar hymn or a modern song rich with truth, our focus is always the same:

To know God more deeply and to make Him known through joyful, gospel-centered worship.
